Robert’s Story (part 1 of 2):

Born to Benethir nobility, Robert had always been inspired by the chronicles of its past. The merger of Benera and Thirako, the struggles of the Novae times and the corporation’s successes thereafter, Benethir had a legacy that Robert felt duty-bound to honour. As Benethir had long since been in decline and become corrupt, however, Robert vowed to restore it to its former glory.

It would take more than a century to achieve Robert’s ambition, but as he was able to extend his life, given his wealth and resources, not even time itself could deter him. Becoming Benethir’s CEO in 4469AD, Robert put his plan into motion.

First, Robert got rid of his corporation’s corrupt leadership, which in turn reinforced his workforce’s loyalty. Following this, Robert put before them his vision for Benethir’s future. It saw Benethir return to its collectivist roots and expand beyond the confines of their native Sol-system (Sol). Inspired, Robert’s workforce strived to play their part.

A century of sacrifice and hard work later, Robert and his workforce had exceeded all expectations. Benethir had become interstellar, its own star-system: Gilese 1002 (Gilese) had been secured, and on Gilese’s two planets: Jova (a Jovian/gaseous planet) and Sahara 8 ((Sahara) a terrestrial planet), the colonisation infrastructure it needed was built. In light of Benethir’s accomplishments, Robert was hailed throughout Sol as a visionary and tycoon extraordinaire. As a result of his fame, attracting colonists for the final phase of Robert’s plan became effortless.

While Robert’s achievements on the surface appeared astonishing, they had been earned at great cost. As a consequence of this, the last stage of his plan was now in jeopardy.
