Jaree’s Story (part 2 of 3):

Distraught that these were his final days, Jaree kept himself composed in front of his colleagues. It being the most viable option to them, they all agreed to the construction of the hibernation pods, as well as to lead the process of this for the colony. All leaving the conference room afterwards, Jaree returned home. Alone, he reflected on his life.

Born to honest, hard-working Martian parents, Jaree tried to cultivate the life they had, one which he deeply admired. Be it here or in Sol, however, Jaree could never make it work. Too late now to change things, and far behind where his parents were at his age, Jaree looked back on his life in shame.

He felt depressed for a time, but during this period he developed an idea. Jaree had failed to fulfil his own ambitions, but he could still redeem himself. While Jaree’s plan would bring anarchy to Sahara, Robert had to be held accountable. The colonists doomed, as he believed Benethir would let them die regardless, Jaree could at least give their deaths meaning.

Being Sahara’s senior manager, Jaree had the colony’s psychological profiles to hand. With these, he found those that had access to various sites across Sahara and would likely be interested in being a part of his plan. One by one, Jaree explained to them the situation Robert had left them in, and how like himself they would have their pods turned off. Faced with their mortalities, they proved easy to convince. Given the site access he required, Jaree next needed soldiers.
