Jaree’s Story (part 3 of 3):

Sahara’s convict colonists were promised new lives. Reminding them of this and explaining to them that their lives would soon be ended, they became furious. Directing their anger, Jaree told them of his plan, and how through it, they could bring Robert to justice. A plan that required excess and barbarity yet was justified, it appealed to something primal in them. Reminding them also that they were entitled to this, as these were their final days, the convicts roared in agreement. Days afterwards, Jaree executed the next stage of his plan.

Once they acquired the firearms they needed, they took control of Sahara’s water. The Water Site soon under siege by the rest of the colony, Jaree fought alongside his soldiers to hold it. Taking aim and firing, a colonist in the distance fell. In response Jaree paused.

The last months had become a blur. As if in a frenzy, Jaree had rallied convicts and convinced hundreds to kill, all in the name of his cause. It never felt real until now, yet here he was, holding Sahara’s water ransom, killing those trying to take it back.

Incapable of taking back their water, the colony was brought to its knees by Jaree and his soldiers. Triumphant, Jaree became the colony’s ruler. The colonists pleaded for their water, but he gave them anarchy instead. Following this, Jaree's 'Pack' earned their name, as their actions were compared to those of animals.

Jaree couldn’t recognise himself anymore, but he didn’t have to. Sahara couldn’t be ignored now. Investigations would one day be conducted. Robert’s lies would be exposed in them. That was all that mattered.
