Following Jaree’s rise to power, The Pack found themselves with a problem: excess prisoners. Comprising of enemies, traitors and dissidents, The Pack needed to reduce their numbers. Although executions were suggested, Jaree saw this as wasteful.

Preferring to give his prisoners a purpose, Jaree came up with an idea. A death-sport whereby pairs of Drivers and Gunners competed against one another in order to win; these races would become the perfect representation of Sahara’s decline into utter anarchy.

Putting his prisoners to work, Jaree had them construct his newest form of entertainment across Sahara’s expansive desert plains and abandoned mining facilities. In time, and by also appropriating the mining and hunting equipment left by Benethir, Jaree’s Chaos Races were born.

In exchange for their servitude, Jaree gave his prisoners the opportunity to earn their freedom. If they could compete in the Chaos Races, survive, and win by coming in first place, they could live free. The prisoner’s alternative to racing being execution, they had little choice but to compete.

As the prisoners sorted themselves into their Driver and Gunner roles, they selected between Jaree’s designated ‘Capabilities’ and ‘Activation Weapons’. The Drivers choosing mostly deployable smokescreens and mines as their Capabilities, the Gunners generally chose the most devastating energy, missile and chemthrower Activation Weapons they could use alongside their Gatling Gun. Soon after, and once implanted with an explosive chip to prevent them from acting out of line, the prisoners made their way to the starting line. Terrified, and sweating under the sun in their makeshift dystopian vehicles, as soon as the lights flickered green, every Driver and Gunner pair fought and raced for their lives.
